Giving it all up

For many of us, I suppose, there are times in our lives when we need to make the big decision to leave behind the life we’ve known and begin a new life with an uncertain future. Moving from the place of one’s roots to a new location requires a certain willingness to let go and embrace the unknown. I certainly saw it in my father’s move from his own home to an extended care facility. Watching nearly everything he held dear as it was auctioned off to friends and strangers to prepare for the sale of his house was not easy. Refugees and immigrants face great unknowns, including often strange languages. Leaving home as a result of war action, I imagine, must be almost unbearable.
