When one person in the family has a drug addiction it affects the entire family.  Often the family becomes as sick as the one who has the addiction.  But imagine an entire family – parents and children – all battling with their own drug and alcohol addictions at the same time.  This week Shaping Families talks with one such family that found themselves caught in a cycle of drug and alcohol abuse and how together, they found their way out.

I love to see God’s power in little ways all around me. When I lived in hot, dry, Austin Texas, I used to take pictures of pink flowering weeds growing out of the cracks in the cement walls of the highway overpasses. New Life after Drugs

This week we celebrate Easter – one of Christendom’s High Holy Days. We’ve chosen a rather unusual way to celebrate Easter on the Shaping Families radio program – we share a story of a family mired in drug addiction, and how they found new life in recovery.

What’s it like living with a mental illness?  Next week Lyn gives us a rare glimpse into her world of dealing with depression, suicide, drug addiction and the stigmas that surround those issues.  Lyn also shares a message that “recovery happens” and says that too often we talk about mental illness as if there is no hope.  Hear Lyn share her story of struggle as well as recovery next week.
